Ruby Developer at StockTwits in San Diego, CA
We are seeking a passionate, talented, hard-working, Senoir level Ruby developer to work on the StockTwits product and features. You should be well versed in Ruby, Rails, testing and HTML5, have a proven-track record of excellence and execution, and be comfortable in a startup company environment.
This job will be based in our headquarters on Coronado Island outside San Diego, CA. We offer a competitive compensation package including equity options, and comprehensive health and dental coverage.
Responsibilities
- Planning, design, development, and deployment of new features
- Write front-end code in Ruby, HAML, with knowledge of HTML/CSS, and Javascript
- Work closely with the other back-end engineers
- Design, implement, and maintain Ruby on Rails-based tools and infrastructure components
- Rapidly fix bugs and solve problems
- Be part of a top-notch team growing a state-of-the-art social media site
Qualifications
- Demonstrable experience building consumer web application interfaces
- Expert HAML/Javascript/HTML/CSS/Ajax coding skills
- Excellent programming skills in Ruby
- Experience with at least one programming language (C/C++/Java/Python/Ruby).
- Strong communication skills (verbal & written)
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related discipline. Technical majors (CS, CEng, EE, Physics) are preferred
- Advanced understanding of front-end optimization techniques, both in page size and perceived rendering time
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-effort, dynamic work environment
- Basic knowledge of version control tools such as GIT
- Disciplined approach to testing and quality assurance
- Avid user of social media applications
- Strong creative problem solving abilities. Candidate must stay current with new technologies
